This group attracts a wide range of professionals from health, education, counselling and the voluntary sector amongst others. The group meets 3 to 4 times a year. These occasions give an opportunity for networking with like-minded professionals, hearing about local initiatives and information, reviewing new resources and inviting speakers both local and national. We hope also to offer occasions where case studies and techniques to support children in bereavement can be discussed. Where gaps in services are identified we are able to use this group to highlight the need for services and, if possible, look at ways of meeting these needs.
We are currently working with a number of schools to help them develop good support systems for children and young people with bereavement and loss issues. We also work closely with Educational Psychologists and the SAD Events Team to promote and develop the 'Seasons for Growth' programme in Leeds schools and would like to roll this out to a wider range of settings.
