Catholic Care aim is to complement the work already being done in school to support young people and remove barriers to learning. A significant number of young people are referred because of issues of loss and bereavement. They respond in a variety of ways including individual counselling, group work plus supporting key adults in school in their direct work with young people.
Catholic Care has experience and expertise in working with a whole school community where there has been a sudden death of a member of staff or pupil and believe they have much to offer in these situations and will always endeavour to make bereavement work a priority.
We are looking for people who might be interested in becoming involved in setting up a SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) group in Leeds. SOBS is a volunteer run group offering peer-support to people who have been bereaved by suicide. (See www.uk-sobs.org.uk) If you have suffered a bereavement through suicide in the past (at least two years) and feel you are now able to offer support to someone else then please contact email@example.com
