About LBF

What is the Leeds Bereavement Forum?

The Leeds Bereavement Forum, set up in 1996, is a city-wide network of organisations and individuals who offer services to bereaved people.  A small team have been appointed to organise and manage this, to create the Directory and web-Directory and to help develop and improve bereavement services in the city as part of Leeds mental health prevention strategy, working closely with existing services.

We hold twice yearly conferences, have several special interest groups and are looking to develop training for professionals working with bereavement.

The Forum is funded by the Leeds Primary Care Trust as part of its Mental Health remit.

The Leeds Bereavement Forum is committed to:

  • Supporting the needs in society to express grief and to come to terms with loss.
  • Bringing together those working with bereaved people to encourage better integrated services throughout all sectors.
  • Raising awareness of bereavement issues in order to increase understanding and foster positive change in support systems.
  • Improving the knowledge and expertise of those working with the bereaved.

  • Improving access to the variety of services available for all bereaved people in Leeds.
  • Providing a network for professionals to link up with each other.
  • The provision of regular training or information events for people working with bereavement.
